What a day!

I started out today with an awesome workout. The only thing that could have made it better is that I could have gotten outside to do it and not on a treadmill. To be honest it felt so good that I almost want to go back to the Gym tonight. But I am not going to do that for 2 reasons.
  1. I don't want to over do it.
  2. There is snow all over the roads and it's really slippy out there.
Ok, the snow is an excuse. :) I was supposed to do a stair climb tonight with the new people I met last night but with the weather, and the fact that I was supposed to help the Wife with something that the weather canceled as well. I could not go. They do it every week and it's only 2 blocks down the street where I work. It's only 37 flights :) Apparently there is a vacant floor on 18 and we were going to stop there and do a streching and excersise session.

The other highlight of my day is that I figured since there is no way I would ever be able to do the Pittsburgh Marathon this year, I would volunteer at it so I can still be a part of it. I set it all up and for 2 days I will be handing out T Shirts and on race day I will be at the finish line collecting RFID tags. Should be fun :) I am really looking forward to it.

So, you go to another location and walk up and down the stairs? That is so awesome! I live in such a small town, there's no buildings over 2 stories. That would make it a pretty short workout for me! You need to get over to that mexican restaurant, muy pronto-if it's truly authentic mexican food, it will spoil you for the phony stuff.

Nothing wrong with using a treadmill. People call them dreadmills because they are boring, but they do give good workouts.

Be careful with the stairs, because they are hills, and hill work puts an awfully lot of stress on your body since you're moving against gravity. 37 flights is a huge hill. If it were me I would do 5 stairs the first week and add 5 more each week. Also, take it easy coming down, because downhill is hard on your knees.

Stairs are a really difficult workout, but so fun! I've only done it a couple of times, lots of leg ache after!

Stan,
Chip clipping, huh? It's one of the jobs I'll often do at a local race. Here's the scoop - a fair number of runners will tie their chip into their laces. If they do, don't let them untie them themselve, YOU untie them, then retie thier laces - not too tightly! They will be massively thankful that you did this, but more importantly, they haven't had to bend down and cope with a menial task and get up again. Trust me, it's good work, not as much glamor as medals or blankets, but really important. You'll see a few people crying, etc. though many will be past that by the time they get to you. Enjoy!

That is great that you are helping out with the marathon!

A note on stairs, take the elevator back down! Going up is great, but down, particularly with extra weight on you is VERY hard on your knees.

I doubt I can do all 37 yet, but I wanna know what lvl I can get to. They don't come back down the stairs they use the elevator :)
